On Kindness

Sometimes, people can really surprise you and show you an act of kindness when you need it most.

I first noticed this several years ago when I was going through a bad divorce and happened upon several kind strangers. Even though they weren’t a part of my life, just by showing kindness, they made a difference and helped me through a difficult time in my life.

This week, I was truly blessed by the kindness of strangers. I’m traveling for work and came down with a nasty cold, but several people went out of their way to show me kindness and I am so grateful. The experience made me think of this Aesop quote –

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”

I can’t tell you how many times even the smallest kind act has helped – and although I’m only one person, I know I’m not alone in my thankfulness for kindness.

So, the next time you have a chance to be kind – do it. You never know how much your kind act or words are needed and appreciated.

  1. It is so much easier to be kind than any other act toward another. I believe humanity is saved by small acts of kindness, moreso than the grand messianic acts that fade quickly from the minds of benefactors. I hope your feeling better soon Leesha. And, thank you for reminding me to take the time to be kind to others. We never know how such a small thing can change lives.
