Hello there, I’m dusting off the cobwebs of this blog to wish you a happy NaNoWriMo’s eve. And while I’m at it, for all the non-writers out there, happy Halloween!
But back to the topic at hand – NaNoWriMo. In case you didn’t know, November is National Novel Writing Month. It’s a chaotic time, when writers of all levels attempt the heroic task of writing 50,000 words in one month. This works out to about 1,667 words a day, which may sound small but – I promise you – it’s a marathon.
Since grad school (also known as my break from writing) is over, my writer’s drive has re-engaged and I’m going to participate too. Now, I’ve never “won” this challenge and to my fellow never won NaNo-ers, I say: this year could be our year. We can do it! We can write a little every day and even squeeze in some writing in between turkey time. Anything is possible!
Even if you don’t get to that 50,000 word mark, it could be the motivation to get you back on the writing bandwagon and that, writer friends, is always worth it.
So, good luck my fellow writers: may your pens be strong, your drinks caffeinated, and your adverbs limited. 🙂
