It’s April again and that means it’s time for the A to Z challenge and this year, my theme for the A to Z Challenge is characters and narrators.
C is for Cad
A cad is a rake, an immoral man, mostly known for his womanizing ways. While these characters are to be avoided at all costs in real life, in romance novels they are generally a lot of fun…especially when they meet their match in a sassy and strong heroine.
My favorite cads:
- Sebastian from “The Devil In Winter” – believe me when I say he is the biggest cad and rake I’ve ever read, and I enjoyed every minute of it 😉
- Chase Gamble from “Tempting the Best Man” – he’s not really too much of a cad..but just enough 😉
C is also for Curmudgeon
A curmudgeon is usually a cantankerous old person. What I like about a lot of curmudgeon in books/movies/tv is the snark, extra points if they have a good back-story and are just waiting for a friend (like in Disney’s “UP.”)
My favorite curmudgeons:
- Mr. Wilson (Really, Denis WAS a menace. Could you really blame him for being annoyed when that kid kept showing up in his house and eating freshly baked goods.)
- Carl from “UP” (and dude, who didn’t cry during the first five minutes of that movie. Disney was somehow able to tell a better love story in a scant few minutes than some people’s attempt over 90 minutes.)
