A to Z Challenge – F (AC)

A to Z Challenge

For the challenge, I’m focusing on the A to Z of reading and writing romance novels. This series of posts will contain Adult Content. So, if you’re really young or don’t enjoy dirty things, just don’t read it. No harm, no foul. Otherwise…enjoy. 🙂

imageF is for the “Friends” Sub-genre

Do you have a secret crush on your best friend (that perhaps you’ve been harboring for years)?  Or maybe your best friend  started dating someone and suddenly you’re filled with a staggering amount of jealousy?  Or maybe the two of you are bored one Tuesday night – whatever, I don’t judge.  🙂

Well then, you’ve landed in the friends sub-genre.  While the dialogue isn’t necessarily as snarky as in the enemy stories (where hate and tension is palpable), there is usually a deeper sweetness to these stories as we watch a friendship bloom into a deeper love….and that love is really, really steamy (it is, after all a romance novel). 🙂

    1. Oh yes, in real life friends to lovers can be a huge mistake – but that’s not the only trend in romance novels that doesn’t really translate into real life. 🙂 And I totally love all the “what are we doing” moments too, they’re too funny. 🙂

  1. Trying to think of a friends to lovers book I’ve read, but I cannot. I read mostly paranormal. I tried contemporary romance in the fall, but we had to split up lol
